Happy Hop-Tu-Naa!

October 24th, 2014

New ‘Jinny’ prints are now available folks! It’s a limited run of 13 so be quick if you’re after one.

They’re inspired by the song ‘Jinny the Witch’ which children sing on Hop-Tu-Naa (The Celtic festival celebrated here in the Isle of Man on the 31st). You can read more about it here if you want.

I used to go out as a kid with my carved turnip in tow and sing this song to anyone that would listen …I always thought that Jinny had a bit of a hard time and reading up on it she didn’t seem to do anything particularly ‘witchy’, so I thought I’d do this piece to kind of show her in a different light.

I’m chuffed with how they came out. They’re printed on a watercolur paper which adds a cool texture to the whole thing. They’re mounted as well and each has a unique Moot (turnip) cutout on the back saying which number you have. You can see an example of this on my Facebook page.
